A transient was arrested on suspicion of drug and firearm possession charges Monday morning, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department reported.

After a week-long investigation, deputies from the TCSO Porterville Substation, along with personnel from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Tulare County Resource Management Agency, responded to the 1300 block of East Springville Drive in order to address multiple complaints regarding a motorhome parked on the river.

Residents reported the vehicle was in disrepair and seeping raw sewage into the waterway. Additionally, a subject residing in the motorhome was believed to be engaged in the sale of narcotics.

Deputies contacted Gary Snowball, 58,and determined he was residing in the motorhome. Snowball was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine and subsequently arrested.

During the investigation, deputies located approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine, packaging materials and a loaded handgun. It was further determined that the motorhome was, in fact, leaking sewage into the river. Tulare County Code Enforcement determined the motorhome was in a state of such disrepair the vehicle was marked for immediate removal and towed from the scene.

Snowball was transported to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Porterville Substation where he was booked.
