To help children understand the importance of visiting a doctor and ease their fears of going to a hospital, Kaweah Delta Family Medicine Center will host a teddy bear clinic and pediatric open house on Wednesday, Nov. 15, in Visalia.

The event will take place from 4-6 p.m. at Kaweah Delta Family Medicine Center, 202 W. Willow Ave., 5th Floor, Visalia. The center is located next the Kaweah Delta Medical Center. This event is appropriate for children ages 3-8.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children to this free event so that their children will become more comfortable with the idea of seeing a doctor and getting medical care. Children can bring any type of stuffed animal to the event. Children will witness a typical medical appointment through the eyes of their stuffed animal, from having their heart, lungs, eyes and ears checked to minor bandages and repairs. They will also visit a general safety station with health tips to stay healthy this flu season. Stuffed animals will have their name and information on a patient file and receive a health certificate following a physical examination. Additionally, a drawing will be conducted for a large stuffed teddy bear.

To make a reservation for your child’s stuffed animal, you may complete the registration form online at Kaweahdelta.org/teddybear. Registration is highly recommended, but not required.

Kaweah Delta Family Medicine Center is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers health services for the entire family. Pediatric services include infant and toddler medical services. Services include routine exams and screenings, vaccinations, treatments, circumcision and more. Same-day appointments are available.
