Panthers boys soccer romp Tigers

Both Abraham Suarez and Kevin Barajas had hat tricks in Portervill­e High School’s boys soccer team’s 7-1 road win against Delano in Tuesday’s East Yosemite League game.

Ivan Alcantar scored the Panthers first goal and despite a sloppy start the Panthers’ led 3-1 at halftime.

“The second half we were much better and didn’t really give them a chance to score,” PHS head coach Eddie Gutierrez said. “Very happy with the performanc­e but there are some things we need to clean up.” Strathmore 3 Woodlake 2

Strathmore boys soccer defeated Woodlake 3-2 on the road in Tuesday evening’s East Sequoia League game.

Granite Hills boys soccer defeated Corcoran 5-1 at home in Tuesday evening’s East Sequoia League game.

Eduardo Ramirez scored two goals and Salud Magaña scored three. Lindsay 13 Sierra Pacific 1

Ethan Duran and Marcos Ceballos each had a hat trick in the Lindsay boys soccer 13-1 defeat of Sierra Pacific on the road in Tuesday’s East Sequoia League game.

Julio Godoy also scored two goal and Moises Betencourt scored one.

Lindsay girls soccer lost 4-1 on the road to Sierra Pacific in Tuesday’s East Sequoia League game after the Golden Bears scored all four goals in the first half.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Sierra Pacific 63 Strathmore 50

Strathmore boys basketball lost 63-50 at home to Sierra Pacific in Tuesday’s East Sequoia League game.

Nick Salas led the Spartans

with 17 points followed by Jadon Guire with nine, Miguel Samano with eight and Adrian Cisneros with seven.

“We controlled the game for the first three quarters,” SHS head coach Justin St. Clair said. “Scored only eight points in the fourth. We had a couple of break downs defensivel­y. Sierra Pacific is a very athletic team. Our guys played hard and competed tonight.”
