Marauders’ girls wrestling takes fourth at invitational

With a score of 113, Monache High School girls wrestling team finished in fourth place out of more than 30 teams at the Lady Hawk Invitational at Mission Oak High School on Jan. 28.
Charlotte Kouyoumtjian (111 pounds) and Felipa Acosta (160) led the Marauders with first-place finishes, while Rhiannon Racca (121) and Anitzia Rodriguez (189) both finished in third place. In fourth place for Monache were Dabne Acosta (126) and Ramona Ortega (189). Also placing for the Marauders was Adriana Castro (101) in seventh place. Panthers place 12 at Lady Hawk Invitational
Porterville’s Sequoia Cook (170 pounds) had the highest finish for the Panthers with a third-place finish at the Lady Hawk Invitational at Mission Oak High School on Jan. 28. As a team, Porterville finished in 12th place with a score of 43.
Taking fifth place for the Panthers was Deserie Gomez (131) while Therese Salinas (121), Julissa Caballero (137) and Lizeth Fuentes (160) all finished in seventh place.
“We had a slow start in the tournament, but finished strong,” PHS head coach Ed Patino Sr. said.
Porterville’s next dual meet is at home Thursday against Tulare Union. On Friday, Porterville travels to Visalia for the Third Annual Central Valley Invitational hosted by Golden West High School.
