PPD: Boy ran over in driveway
Airlifted to Valley hospital, in critical condition
A 20-month-old boy was in critical condition at a Valley hospital after being run over by his uncle in a driveway on Sunday, the Porterville Police Department reported.

At approximately 9:54 a.m. Sunday, PPD officers responded to Sierra View Medical Center regarding a 20-month-old child who was being treated for serious injuries sustained in a traffic collision. Members of the Porterville Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team were called out and their initial investigation revealed that the young boy was at his residence in the 300 block of north Salisbury Street in Porterville when he was accidentally run over in the driveway by his uncle, identified as Gildardo Vasquez-martinez, 32.
The child’s parents drove the child to Sierra View Medical Center where he received initial treatment, however, due to his injuries he was airlifted in critical condition to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno where was listed in critical condition.
Vasquez-martinez is cooperating with the investigation and it’s unclear at this time if alcohol and/ or drugs played a factor in the collision, PPD reported. Vasquez-martinez provided a blood sample for analysis, however, he was not arrested pending further investigation.
