Pengilly goes 0-2 at NCAA Tourney
Former Porterville High School wrestler Mason Pengilly went 0-2 at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships held at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio on Thursday.
Wrestling for Stanford as a redshirt junior in the 133-pound weight class, Pengilly lost 2-1 to No. 3 Luke Pletcher of Ohio State and 8-4 to Rutger’s Scott Delvecchio. The loss to Delvecchio knocked Pengilly out of the tournament.
It was Pengilly’s first appearance in the NCAA tournament.

Selma 249 Granite Hills 261
Granite Hills High School boys golf team lost 249-261 to Selma Thursday in a non-league match at Ridge Creek Golf Course.
The Grizzlies’ No. 1 Colton Painter was the low medalist with a score of 39. No. 2 Shane Lozano shot a 40, No. 3 Stephen Land scored a 50, No. 4 Juan Flores carded a 62 and No. 5 Sergio Salinas finished with a 70.

Panthers defeat Hawks in EYL opener
Porterville High School’s boys and girls swim teams defeated Mission Oak in the Panthers’ first East Yosemite League dual meet of the season Thursday at Tulare Western High School.
PHS boys head coach Lance Hyder said their were technical issues and official results were not available at the moment.
With the win the Panthers improved to 3-0 on the overall season. The team hosts the annual Porterville Unified School District City Championship meet on Wednesday, March 28 at 4:30 p.m. Participating along with Porterville will be Granite Hills, Monache and Strathmore.
