PORTERVILLE Spring Luncheon is May 19
The Women’s Ministry at the First Southern Baptist Church located at 1641 W. Henderson Ave., Porterville, is hosting its annual Spring Luncheon at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19.
The featured speaker will be Sandra Dodd, a Bible study teacher and member of the Columbus Avenue Baptist Church in Bakersfield. She is retired from the Fresno Pacific University, Bakersfield campus. Theme will be “Be still and know that I am God” from Psalm 46:10.
The luncheon is free so grab a friend and plan to attend.
PORTERVILLE Deputies stop burglar in the act
Tulare County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched Friday to the 200 block of South Page, Porterville, in regard to an in progress burglary.
On arrival at about 3:09 p.m. deputies located the suspect, Jose Guadalupe Ramirez Quinonez, 23, inside the residence.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was found in possession of property taken from the residence, including the clothing he was wearing. The stolen property was returned to the victim.

PORTERVILLE Socalgas finishes routine maintenance
Employees with Socalgas are finished with routine maintenance they did to replace a gas main that provides natural gas service to approximately five commercial businesses in the Porterville area.
“With the exception of paving repairs, the project is now complete,” said Fiorella Canedo, who is a part of the office of media and public information team at Socalgas.
Canedo said the work was done as part of Socalgas’ Distribution Integrity Management Program (DIMP), a program that replaces distribution pipeline infrastructure to reduce the likelihood and consequences of pipeline failures. Canedo said Socalgas uses many pipeline attributes such as age, pipe kind, leakage, etc. to determine priority and typically replace kind for kind.
Canedo said Socalgas dedicates significant resources to improving the safety and integrity of its more than 101,000 miles of natural gas pipelines. In 2017, Canedo said the company sent approximately $1.2 billion for improvements to distribution, transmission, and storage systems and for pipeline safety.
WOODLAKE Eletrical wiring taken from pump
Tulare County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched Friday to the 21600 block of Avenue 360 in Woodlake regarding a grand theft of electrical wiring from a pump.
Upon arrival at about 12 p.m. deputies contacted the victim who reported someone had stolen a large length of electrical wiring from a pump. He estimated his loss at $6,000.
This case is still under investigation.

EARLIMART Man found with concealed knife arrested
Tulare County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded Friday to a report of a suspicious person in the 500 block of East School Avenue, in Earlimart.
Upon arrival at about 11:20 a.m., deputies contacted Felipe Moreno, 24, who was in possession of a concealed fixed blade knife.
Moreno was arrested on suspicion of possession of the knife and was transported to the Porterville Substation where he was booked.

OROSI Polaris utility cart recovered
Tulare County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded Thursday to a business in 13000 block of Avenue 428 in Orosi, regarding a report of a grand theft. The complainant reported that a Polaris utility cart, with an estimated value of approximately $5, 002, had been stolen from the property.
On Friday, deputies located and recovered the stolen utility cart in the Dinuba area and the cart was returned to the business. No possible suspects were located.

RICHGROVE Brass valves reported stolen
Tulare County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched Monday to a report of a theft of brass valves from a farm near the intersection of Avenue 24 and Richgrove Drive, near Richgrove.
Employees at the farm reported they had discovered that someone had stolen 447 brass T-valves from the farm’s irrigation system sometime between May 5-7.
Employees said it would cost more than $10,200 to replace the valves.
Detectives from the Agriculture Crime Unit arrived and took over the investigation. Evidence from the scene was located and collected.
