As a child, Marilyn enjoyed the outdoors, riding tractors alongside her father while tending the family orange grove in Buena Park. She was a member of 4-H. Band trips to the Rose Parade and Hollywood Parade were fondly remembered. Marilyn received an AA degree from Porterville Junior College. In 1963 Marilyn transferred to Fresno State University where she pledged Phi Mu sorority and majored in Business.

Marilyn continued to reside in Fresno for 55 years. Her work career included Fresno Community Hospital Pharmacy Department and Cashier at Rite Aide and Dollar Tree retail stores. While in Fresno, Marilyn collected lifelong friends. She was known for her love of outdoors. She traveled frequently with her parents and friends. In recent years local casinos were a favorite day trip. Her humor was evidenced by birthday and holiday cards which invariably included a cartoon clipped from the newspaper.
