The winner will have the opportunity to read their essay at the Flag Day Ceremony on Thursday, June 14 at the Grocery Outlet shopping center on the corner of Olive Avenue and D Street. The event is a celebration of patriotism as the citizens of Porterville and Southern Tulare County gather to pay their respects to the American flag. It marks the replacement of the largest flag in town, an American flag that flies over the Olive Avenue parking lot. A new flag will be dedicated and raised proudly over the community.
