Ten Years of Celebrate Recovery
Celebrate Recovery, a Christian 12-step recovery program meeting at Westfield Christian Church, will celebrate its tenth anniversary on Tuesday, September 18, at 6:30 p.m. Westfield Church is located at 1222 N. Prospect in Porterville.
Although Celebrate Recovery has been helping people for over 25 years and is now in every state and many countries, the Porterville Celebrate Recovery at Westfield Church began ten years ago with a small group of leaders who had found freedom, joy and wholeness through the Twelve Steps and the Eight Principles of Celebrate Recovery. The program continues to provide weekly meetings every Tuesday, 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Celebrate Recovery is honored to be one of several recovery programs in Porterville, and has the distinct privilege of offering two unique elements to the process of recovery. First, it is a Christ-centered program. Biblical principles are incorporated throughout the recovery program. Second, it is open to anyone who struggles with any kind of hurt, hang-up, or habit. Yes, many are in Celebrate Recovery because of substance abuse, but others are in Celebrate Recovery because of their struggle with anger, depression, eating disorders, physical or sexual abuse, sexual integrity, and codependency – in short, anyone with a hurt, habit, or hang-up.
Celebrate Recovery is open to people of all faiths or no faith. It is open to those who voluntarily seek help with recovery and those who are required to attend recovery meetings. For more information, contact Nancy Wuth at 350-3150, or the church office at 784-0858.
