County seeks to fill vacancies on homelessness task force
The Tulare County Board of Supervisors is seeking interested individuals to fill two vacant positions on the Tulare County Task Force on Homelessness, one position representing a lowincome housing developer and the other position representing the educational sector.
The purpose of the Task Force is to advise and assist the Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA) on the Agency's efforts to address homelessness issues affecting the community and to report to the Tulare County Board of Supervisors periodically. The responsibilities of the Task Force shall include the following:
• Assist HHSA in assessing the homeless population and services in the county, including strengths and gaps in the current system (including rural and/or underserved areas) and help to develop strategies to meet unmet needs.
• Recommend policies that improve quality of life for homeless persons.
• Make recommendations on strategies, goals, and funding resources to address homelessness within the county.
• Encourage support for the development and implementation of effective homes programs and services.
• Develop recommendations relevant to existing and proposed legislation on homelessness.
• Assist in the production of written reports, including an annual report, for presentation to the Board of Supervisors.
• With the concurrence of the Board of Supervisors, advocate for increased action to improve the situation of homeless persons.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the Board of Supervisors or the Health & Human Services Agency Director.
Meetings occur on the third Monday of each month at 3:00 p.m. at the County Administrative Office, located at 2800 W. Burrel in Visalia.
