Man arrested for attempted burglary on E. Olive
On Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 6:55 a.m. the Porterville Police Department responded to a business located in the 300 block of East Olive
Avenue, regarding a subject attempting to pry open a rear door to the business.
When Officers arrived, they encountered the subject Arturo Vargas, 29, who immediately fled from Officers on foot. A perimeter of the area was established during which Vargas
was located in the 500 block of East River Av-
enue. Vargas again fled on foot, but was apprehended after a foot chase and short struggle.
Further investigation into the occurrence confirmed Vargas had attempted to break into the business. At the time of his apprehension, Vargas was found to have a felony warrant for his arrest and was also determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance.
Vargas was booked
into the custody of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department on the
aforementioned charges and is being held in lieu of $70,000 bail.
