Man ar­rested for at­tempted bur­glary on E. Olive

On Wed­nes­day, Oct. 10, at 6:55 a.m. the Porter­ville Po­lice Depart­ment re­sponded to a busi­ness lo­cated in the 300 block of East Olive

Av­enue, re­gard­ing a sub­ject at­tempt­ing to pry open a rear door to the busi­ness.

When Of­fi­cers ar­rived, they en­coun­tered the sub­ject Ar­turo Vargas, 29, who im­me­di­ately fled from Of­fi­cers on foot. A perime­ter of the area was es­tab­lished dur­ing which Vargas

was lo­cated in the 500 block of East River Av-

enue. Vargas again fled on foot, but was ap­pre­hended af­ter a foot chase and short strug­gle.

Fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion into the oc­cur­rence con­firmed Vargas had at­tempted to break into the busi­ness. At the time of his ap­pre­hen­sion, Vargas was found to have a felony war­rant for his ar­rest and was also de­ter­mined to be un­der the in­flu­ence of a con­trolled sub­stance.

Vargas was booked

into the cus­tody of the Tu­lare County Sher­iff’s Depart­ment on the

afore­men­tioned charges and is be­ing held in lieu of $70,000 bail.
