Tulare man sentenced to life in prison for child molestatio­n

On Friday in Department 6 of the Tulare County Superior Court, Visalia Division, Judge Gary Paden sentenced Anthony Myers, age 36, of Tulare, to 238 years-to-life in prison for child molestatio­n.

On August 16, 2018, a jury found Myers guilty of one count of oral copulation of a minor under the age of ten, one count of attempted oral copulation of a minor under the age of ten, ten counts of forcible lewd act upon a child under the age of 14, four counts of lewd act upon a child under the age of 14, eight counts of lewd act upon a child age 15, and one count of possession of child pornograph­y. The jury also found true the special allegation of substantia­l sexual conduct and that the crimes were committed against multiple victims. Each count is a felony and 24 of the counts are strike offenses.

Ten of the crimes occurred between April 1, 2004, and January 14, 2010, against a female victim who was between five and ten-years-old at the time of the sexual assaults.

Eight of the crimes occurred between May 8, 2014, and May 7, 2015, against a female victim who was 15-years-old at the time of the sexual assaults.

Six of the crimes occurred between December 5, 2013, and June 8, 2017, against a female victim who was between four and seven-years-old at the time of the sexual assaults.

Myers possessed child pornograph­y on or about June 30, 2017. All twentyfive crimes occurred in various locations within the county.

In addition to his sentence, Myers will also be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Chelsea Wayt of the Crimes against Children Division and investigat­ed by Detective Matt Muller of the Tulare Police Department.
