The Friends of the Library will hold book sales on the first Saturday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. behind the gas company building at 301 N. Hockett St. in Porterville. The sales feature classics, fiction, non-fiction, travel, humor, history, Western, reference, mystery, large-print, cook, travel and text books. Computer manuals, DVDS, music, old records and videos will also be sold. All proceeds benefit the Porterville City Library and the Porterville Library Literacy Program.
Into the Woods. The Lindsay Community Theater presents Into the Woods on Oct 25, 27, Nov 1, and 3 at 7:30 PM and Oct 28 and Nov 4 at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $14.99 for Adults and $9.99 for Students. 1920’s Silent Movie Night. 1920’s Silent Movies with theater organist, Dave Moreno playing live accompaniment will be held at First Congregational Church, 165 E. Mill Ave, Porterville CA. Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, Laurel & Hardy and Buster Keaton will be featured in the films. The event will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 7:00 pm. Fashion Show. The Strathmore Town and Country is putting on a fashion show at 12 p.m., November 3, at the Strathmore Memerial Building. Tickets are $15 each, and limited. Southern Tulare County Sportsman’s Association the NRA Youth Hunter Education Challenge. Whether you are a youth aged 7-18, an adult with a desire to contribute time to your community, a member of an organization or a businrss looking for a youth-oriented project, the STCSA YHEC is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. The event takes place Saturday, November 3, at the Success Lake Wildlife Area. The cost is free. those looking to join must have a Jr. Hunting license or a Hunter Safety class card in order to participate in clay shooting, and must have parent in attendance. There will be archery, wild life ID, safety trail, air riffle, lunch, and much more.
