Five lo­cals on ALL-CVC vol­ley­ball teams

Two lo­cal play­ers from West Hills Col­lege Coalinga, as well as three from Porter­ville Col­lege, were named to the All-cen­tral Val­ley Con­fer­ence vol­ley­ball team Wed­nes­day.

West Hills’ fresh­man An­drea Lopez, a Monache High School grad­u­ate, was a first-team se­lec­tion with a team-high 308 kills and was ranked third in the CVC with 3.80 kills per set. The out­side hit­ter was also one of only four CVC play­ers to regis­ter more than 300 kills and 200 digs (243).

As a se­nior at Monache, Lopez was se­lected The Recorder’s 2017 All-orange Belt Vol­ley­ball Player of the Year and had an area-high 413 kills her fi­nal sea­son.

For­mer Porter­ville High set­ter, Tay­lor Ramos, was an honor­able men­tion for West Hills Coalinga (10-13, 8-10 CVC). In over­all play, Ramos fin­ished 10th in the CVC with 399 as­sists and was also in a three­way tie for 10th-most aces (37). In con­fer­ence play, Ramos fin­ished ninth with 304 as­sists, putting her two as­sists be­hind team­mate and for­mer Strath­more High star set­ter, fresh­man Is­abella Galang, who had 306 as­sists.
