sophomores Madysen Clower and Emily Baeza, and freshman Juliet Garcia, were all honorable mentions. All three were outside hitters, while both Clower and Garcia were also listed as middle blockers.

Garcia led the team in overall play with 162 kills while Clower followed with 146 and Baeza had 117 to round out the Pirates top three spots. Baeza also finished second on the team in digs (118) and aces (31). Granite Hills 48 Corcoran 36

Granite Hills wrestling won an important East Sequoia League dual against Corcoran, 48-36, at Sierra Pacific High School Thursday.

Valente Garcia (138 pounds), Steven Jacuinde (160), Shane Christie (170), Tommy Martinez (180), Arturo Mendoza (190), Johan Cervantes (220) and Vincent Velasquez (heavyweigh­t) all won their matches by pin for the Grizzlies.

According to GHHS head coach, David Bartlett, it was a dual that essentiall­y decided the ESL champion.

“They were extremely tough and did not want to give up their reign on the title,” Bartlett said. “They’re a major factor in Division II. But guess what? We’re better. Monache girls soccer defeated Delano 8-0 in Thursday’s East Yosemite League game at home.

For the Marauders, Rachel Clement, Zoe Rios and Jiselle Batres scored two goals apiece while Gabriela Vasquez and Adriana Martinez each scored one.

Monache’s junior varsity team won 3-0 with Nina Serrato scoring three goals for a hat trick. Spartans drop two Strathmore girls soccer lost both their East Sequoia League games this week. On Tuesday, the team lost 5-2 to Farmersvil­le with Bella Baez scoring both of the Spartans goals. Then on Thursday, the team lost 4-0 to Sierra Pacific.

“We seem like we play well through out the game and then we have spurts where our youth and inexperien­ce shows up and we give up easy goals,” SHS head coach Hector Gonzalez said. “The bright side of our team is that we are still fighting in the games to the end and the team is still learning how to play the game.” Woodlake 2 Granite Hills 1
