Many items pending approval on Council agenda for Tuesday
The agenda for Tuesday’s City Council meeting is a short one, but the Council is looking at a lengthy consent calendar. Before approving or rejecting the consent calendar, the Council must take care of some routine items first.
The first item for the night is an employee of the month award honoring Clayton Dignam. Following this presentation will be a second employee service awards presentation. The name(s) of the award recipients have not been revealed.
Following the awards presentations, the Council will move directly into their regular AB 1234 reports. These reports cover board or commission meetings Council representatives have recently attended. The scheduled reports will include updates on the Eastern Tule Groundwater Sustainability Agency, the Tulare County Task Force on Homelessness, and the Tulare County Association of Governments (TCAG).
These reports will be proceeded by updates from city commissions and committees. Included in these will be the Library and Literacy Commission, the Arts Commission, and the Youth Commission. Wrapping up reports for the night will be City Manager John Lollis, who will brief the Council on city staff informational reports and an update on the city’s shopping cart ordinance.
Oral communications will be opened by Mayor Martha Flores after the conclusion of all reports. This is the time where the public is encouraged to address the Council on any issues under their jurisdiction. Each speaker will be given three minutes to speak, unless additional time is authorized by the Council.
This meeting’s consent calendar sits at 18 items, all of which may be approved in one motion, unless a Council member requests to pull an item for further discussion. A list of the items is available at the end of this article.
There is one ordinance receiving a second reading, and it concerns sidewalk vending. The Council previously discussed setting regulations for sidewalk vendors, and this ordinance details those regulations.
The final item for the night is a scheduled matter, which will consider appointing an individual to the city’s Animal Control Commission board. The designated appointee has not been named.
Oral communications will open a final time, before the Council is asked to request additional agenda items and speak on any additional matters they may have missed.
