Mention the Apocalypse in any crowd, even a secular one, and visions surface of chaos and destruction, fear and flight, and a desperate fight for survival. Take one step closer to actual realities and you find a book full of signs and symbols difficult to decipher. But is it possible that we have missed the forest for the trees—missed, that is, the central figure of the book of Revelation? One man thinks so. His name is Lee Venden and he will be here in Porterville, March 29 thru April 6 to tell us why.

Meetings will be held at the Porterville SDA Church on Linda Vista Ave at Hwy 65, beginning on Friday, March 29, at 6:30 p.m., and continue throughout the following week.

Pastor Venden takes his cue from the fact that the opening lines of the book of Revelation inform us that the book is actually a revealing of Jesus Christ, that the word “apocalypse” in the Greek language actually means unveiling and it is Christ whom the book promises to unveil, not the terrible events of a Hollywood apocalypse.

Venden's revival series, “The Revelation of Whom?” looks into the last book of the Bible with the intent of finding Jesus as the heart, core, center and pivotal theme. The primary focus of this series will be an effort to find personal applications that impact one's daily walk with Christ. The tail may not get pinned on the proverbial prophetic donkey, but everyone, regardless of denominational association, will come away with relevant insights into Christ as He presents himself in the book of Revelation.
