Artist feautured at reception today
Featured Artist Linda Itzcuauhtli Che Hinojosa is hosting her art reception at Porterville Art Association today from 4 to 6 p.m. The public, friends, and family are invited to view her amazing artworks and partake of the festivities. Che dedicates her reception in honor of Frida Kahlo who was born on July 6t, 1907. Frida was a surrealistic cultural artist who painted many portraits, including self-portraits.
Che focuses on the sensual nature of art through a combination of colors, techniques, textures, and symbolism. Her exhibitions have been housed in institutions such as Centennial Park, City Hall of Porterville, Don Vinos, Dragon Nails, Fresno State University, Fullerton Art Walk, Gallery Boutique, Glory Graphics, Glenwood Studio, Heritage Center, Iris Festival, La Veritas, La Zapateria, Lindsay Gallery, Living Water, Love Inc, Comision Honorifica Mexicana Americana, Mission District San Francisco, Moonshine Cancer Run Benefit, Nuckols Ranch, Ocean Beach San Francisco, Pioneer Days, Pioneer Middle School, Porterville Art Association, Porterville Community College, Porterville Art Walk, Porterville Parent Network, San Jose Mexica, Santa Monica Boardwalk, Venice Beach Boardwalk, Veterans Park, Victory Outreach, and several academic universities. Che has created several art pieces for various local businesses, which recommended her pieces to be published in several newspapers. Her art has been filmed on Channel 30 Action News.
She’s a board member, public relations, Chair of AD-HOC Committee, Chair of Hospitality, and an art teacher at the Porterville Art Association. In addition, she’s affiliated with many local organizations, where she contributes countless hours volunteering on different art pieces. Che works with different art mediums. She was one of the cultural muralists who assisted painting the mural on the Porterville Community Center in 2015. Che has earned much recognition through Art Show Ribbons and awards as both participant and winner. In June, Che placed first for her mixed media canvas painting Playtime at the Porterville Art Association annual Juried Show. The art show was judged by popular artist Steven Ball of Springville. She credits her father for her artistic skills, her first teacher at age two. Che has delivered many public speeches about her passion for art, and has donated hundreds of her art pieces to many charitable causes. Che is also an Aztec dancer and credits her mother for her melodic abilities. She graduated from Porterville College producing works of art, Ashford University with her bachelor’s in Education and Ashford University with a master’s. Her goal is to complete her Doctoral Degree with a major in humanities and culture program in 2021.
“I love to paint because each painting tells a different story,” she said, “and I am inspired by my environment and my life experiences. My family are my motivators.”
