No reason to be bored: Come to Summer Night Lights
series concludes at Fallen Heroes Park on July 19 with a showing of How to Train Your Dragon: Hidden World. The program is co-sponsored by the Tulare County Board of Supervisors as part of their Step Up program. It's great family fun and, the best part, it's totally free! play a game you enjoy and get some exercise while you are at it. Registration for our adult co-ed volleyball league will begin on July 15. The league is designed for adults 18 years or older and will feature an eight-week season beginning late August. The season will culminate with a single-elimination tournament. All games take place in the Santa Fe School Gym. Cost to register is $175 a team. If you don't have a team, let us know you're a free agent and we can help connect you to others. Registration for our Recreation Afterschool Program (RAP) begins on July 12. RAP is an afterschool program offered in the Burton School District for children in grades K- 6. It offers a place where kids can get help with homework, do arts and crafts, get some exercise and more.
Enrollment for Tiny Tots also begins on July 12. Tiny Tots is a specialized program for children ages 3-5 years old. This pre-school program takes place weekdays 9 a.m.- noon throughout the school year and features academic instruction called “Classroom Magic.”
Join us at the Porterville City Library for a spectacular midsummer performance by the one and only “George the Giant!” You might have seen him on “America's Got Talent” during his season 3 performance. His incredible sideshow stunts are sure to impress. George is the world's tallest confirmed sword swallower and holds the unofficial record for longest sword swallowed. This special performance is absolutely free and will take place on Saturday, July 13 from 3- 4 p.m. While you're at the Library, you can also get involved with their summer reading program and pick up a calendar of their daily activities.
