IT’S A SNAP
Hector Futrell took this picture in the 1940’s of two school girls crossing at Oak Avenue and Main Street. This is the only picture of the service station that was located on the southeast corner of Main Street and Oak Avenue. Today this is the site of the Subway sandwich shop. Note the street lights.
It’s a Snap runs periodically in The Porterville Recorder. Readers are encouraged to drop off pictures at the newspaper, 115 E. Oak Ave., or email them to recorder@ portervillerecorder.com. Pictures of significant events are welcome. For more information, contact The Recorder at 784-5000, Ext. 1043.
