The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) and other local law enforcement agencies cracked down on domestic violence Wednesday in an operation that ended in 21 arrests.

On Wednesday at 6 a.m., local law enforcement agencies in Tulare County took part in a nationwide effort to crack down on domestic violence. A number of local agencies joined forces in an attempt to serve 255 arrest warrants for people wanted in connection with domestic violence offenses.

This special operation was part of the 17th Annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail. This detail started in Clackamas County, Ore., and has spread throughout the law enforcement community to help reduce and bring awareness to domestic violence victims and their families.

Nationally, the month of October is “Domestic Violence Awareness Month.” TCSO deputies, as well as detectives and officers from allied agencies, began knocking on doors early Wednesday morning to bring offenders to justice. In total, 60 law enforcement officers from these agencies were divided into teams of four and tasked to serve the arrest warrants throughout Tulare County.

The operation ended with 21 people going to jail, including two females. 19 people were arrested for domestic violence warrants. Two additional subjects were taken into custody on unrelated warrants.

This was a multi-agency event. The remaining arrest warrants will be served by local law enforcement agencies as part of an ongoing effort to find and arrest offenders and bring closure to victims.

Local law enforcement agencies that participated with TCSO include the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office, Tulare County Probation Office, Visalia Police Department, Porterville Police Department, Tulare Police Department, Lindsay Police Department, Dinuba Police Department and Woodlake Police Department.

TCSO’S goal with this operation is to show the citizens of Tulare County it doesn’t tolerate domestic violence and is going to do its part to keep the community safe. It also wants to make sure locals are aware of the countless resources available to them to get help.
