I’m the best last place prognosticator in the country
I used to hate it when some coach trying to keep his job would make some kind of statement like “We’re the best 6-6 team in the country.”
First off being the best 6-6 team in the country doesn’t really get you anything except maybe a trip to the whatever-thelatest-meaningless bowl there is so your team can practice another 15 or so times with or without you. By that time your administration has maybe decided to fire you and go with an interim coach.
I mean there isn’t like a tournament for 6-6 teams to determine the best 6-6 team in the country.
Well, now I know how that coach feels. For I’m definitely the best last place prognosticator in the country. I mean an 88-64 record through the football season so far I think is actually pretty good.
But in this year’s Prognosticators contest, it really doesn’t mean anything. David Horowitz of Horowitz Jewelers is still in first place, having an outstanding season after another outstanding week. He’s now 10644 after going 8-2 last week.
Dustin Della of Suncrest Bank remains in second after going 8-2 last week and is now 98-52 on the year. J.R. Flores of J.R.’S Barber Shop is in third at 9456 after going 6-4 last week. I also went 6-4 last week but still trail Mary Quijas of Juicy Burger because she went 8-2 last week and is now 93-59 on the year.
The NFL takes over our picks this week but we’re also still picking the Army-navy game, which I consider to be one of the last true, pure rivalries in college football along with the Harvard-yale game.
There are a lot of intriguing NFL games this week, including Buffalo at Pittsburgh and
Houston at Tennessee as these are games as the old cliché goes that have “playoff implications.”
As always we encourage our readers to frequent and use the businesses of our prognosticators. And as always here’s wishing you have another great week and look for the results of the Prognosticators contest every Friday in the Recorder.
