Bob Bottoms is a long time member of the Tulare City Historical Society, Tulare Historical Museum Heritage Art Gallery, Tulare Palette Club, Tulare Senior Community Citizen Center, and the Porterville Art Association along with serving in the Porterville Unified School District and Porterville College. He raised his children with a love of arts. Bob encourages his children to sketch, draw, and paint still lifes and portraits.

He encouraged his daughter Bethany Phillips to pursue her passion of art with pastels. Bob has been a featured artist at numerous art galleries, including art exhibits celebrating receptions in his honor. He has traveled to Canada, Europe, and explored the United States with his beloved wife Sue Carlton Bottoms. Together, they have been blessed with many grandchildren Julia and husband Gary Hipps, Libra and husband Phil Howard, Paul and wife Jenny Phillips, Sam Bottoms, Elizabeth Kent, Rebekah Kent, Annie and husband Chris Garfield, and Leah Medrano. Bob also enjoys his four great-grandchildren: William Hipps, Caleb Phillips, Grace Howard, and Owen Phillips.

Phillips credits her father Bob Bottoms with her passion of art in pastel paintings. She’s an alumni and featured artist of Porterville College. Bethany took art classes at Porterville College, Bakersfield College, and is a retired teacher.

Her art medium is pastel and she’s inspired by the work of Cezanne and the Impressionists. She also has a passion for the work of John Singer Sargent and the design and colors of Gustav Klimt.

Bethany is a member of the Tulare Palette Club, Tulare Historical Museum Heritage Art Gallery, Tulare Senior Community Citizen Center, Zonta An Evening with Art & Wine, and Porterville Art Association. Like her father

Bob, her paintings stem from still life, portraits and landscapes.

They have both received ribbons for first, second and third places at awarded judged exhibits. Bob and Bethany are well-known artists with their pastels displayed throughout numerous art galleries. They’re both retired from their educational professions. However, their amazing nature and every day artwork continues to speak volumes as signature artists.

Bob and Bethany travel every Tuesday to Tulare to paint at the Tulare Senior Community Citizen Center.

“There he and so many other wonderful artists have made individual contributions to my artwork,” says Bethany. “They persuade me to try, give me new inspiration, and help me build confidence.”

Thank you Bob Bottoms and Bethany Phillips for your devotion to art, and for sharing your amazing blessings with vast communities.
