To Mark Jackson and his parents Gerald and Deborah Jackson for fighting for the benefits our veterans who served at Karshi Khanabad (K2) Air Base deserve. Jackson also served at the K2 Air Base. Many of these veterans have serious health problems due to serving our country at this air base and our lawmakers need to act now to make sure they receive the benefits they need.

To the following athletes who have been honored as The Recorder’s Orange Belt Players of the Year: Portervill­e High’s Nash Wobrock, boys basketball; Strathmore High’s Jazmine Soto, girls basketball; Granite Hills High’s Daniel Ruiz, boys soccer; Monache’s Zoe Rios, girls soccer; and Charlotte Kouymountj­ian, girls wrestling. The Orange Belt Athlete of the Year for boys wrestling will be announced Saturday.

To Precision Prep for donating 100 meals to Portervill­e healthcare workers.

We continue to recognize all those who are working on the frontlines during this difficult time. We recognize all the grocery workers and all those working in other industries who continue to make sure we have what we need.

To Portervill­e College men’s basketball player Tayshawun Bradford, who has signed a letter of intent with Rocky Mountain College in Montana.

To Chris Contreras of CC’S Wood Flags and Rob Taylor of Stafford’s Chocolates for beginning a display at the business on Main Street to honor all of our heroes — first responders, military and health workers.
