To Mark Jackson and his parents Gerald and Deborah Jackson for fighting for the benefits our veterans who served at Karshi Khanabad (K2) Air Base deserve. Jackson also served at the K2 Air Base. Many of these veterans have serious health problems due to serving our country at this air base and our lawmakers need to act now to make sure they receive the benefits they need.

To the following athletes who have been honored as The Recorder’s Orange Belt Players of the Year: Porterville High’s Nash Wobrock, boys basketball; Strathmore High’s Jazmine Soto, girls basketball; Granite Hills High’s Daniel Ruiz, boys soccer; Monache’s Zoe Rios, girls soccer; and Charlotte Kouymountjian, girls wrestling. The Orange Belt Athlete of the Year for boys wrestling will be announced Saturday.

To Precision Prep for donating 100 meals to Porterville healthcare workers.
