The Popcorn Stand: Groundhog Day once again

-

We now take a break from everything that’s going on to report on The MOSTEST ADORABLEST, CUTEST VIDEO EVER! Those of you who read this Popcorn Stand know I’ll use any excuse to write about stuff I’ve already written about. And also to write about my dog Tuf Tuf (you know Sir Tuffington something or other) the Jack Russell.

The video I just saw gives me the excuse to do both. I think Groundhog Day should be moved to April in honor of the little guy in this video.

Which again gives me the excuse to write about my question: Why is Groundhog Day on February 2? Why not February 1?

I mean April Fool’s Day is April 1. May Day is May 1. Did the guy who came up with Groundhog Day intend to celebrate the holiday on February 1 but forgot about it and got to the end of the day and said, “That’s OK, we’ll just do it tomorrow.”

Anyway in this video, a Philadelphia woman found a groundhog munching on a slice of pizza outside of her sliding glass door. Kristin Chalela Bagnell posted a video on Facebook, showing the groundhog eating the slice of pizza.

I thought I really enjoyed pizza. I mean I really devour it. But I have nothing on this groundhog. This groundhog is really going at it. And the look on his face says it all. He’s really a happy little guy.

And I think the reason why he’s so happy he’s also teasing Bagnell’s two dogs, Maggie and Moses, who come to the door to watch this groundhog have the time of his life. You can tell those two dogs would love to share in the slice of pizza that groundhog is so enjoying.

And I know Tuf Tuf would be like those two dogs with that hopeful look on his face, looking at that groundhog hoping to somehow get a piece of that slice of pizza. That’s the hopeful look Tuf Tuf always has on his face as he stares at me while I’m at the dinner table. And of course I almost always give in to the little guy, slipping him a piece or two of the people food I’m eating.

And that piece of pizza that groundhog had was huge. So no wonder Bagnell said the groundhog stood outside her door for more than an hour eating on that slice of pizza.

What would be cool if somebody put Dean Martin singing “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore!” on the video while the groundhog was enjoying his slice.

Anyway, this groundhog is one pizza face I’ll never get tired of watching.
