The Popcorn Stand: It’s definitely a Cagey role
This is absolutely awesome.
Those of you who choose to read this Popcorn Stand will find out I’m fascinated by certain people for no particular reason other than they seem to be quirky.
One of those people is Nicolas Cage. I’ve only seen a few Nicolas Cage movies. I didn’t see him in his Academy Award winning role in Leaving Las Vegas.
I do remember him as the bad boy in “Valley Girl.” I also actually thought he was pretty good in “The Weather Man,” “The Family Man” and “City of Angels.” I really thought “The Family Man” would be one of those feel good movies that are shown every Christmas like “A Christmas Story” and “It’s a Wonderful Life” but for some reason it’s never really caught on in that classic film kind of way.
I thought the most awesome thing I ever heard happened when it was reported Nicolas Cage was going to star in a movie about — Nicolas Cage. I don’t know what has happened to that project.
But I was wrong. This is the most awesome thing I’ve ever heard. Nicolas Cage is going to star in a series, portraying Joe Exotic.
Not that I would ever watch the series. And not that I have ever watched or ever would watch “Tiger King.” I have no idea what that series is about other than it’s about some guy named Joe Exotic and he apparently raises tigers or something or other.
And I’m not going to watch the Nicolas Cage movie about Nicolas Cage starring Nicolas Cage.
But the Nicolas Cage movie about Nicolas Cage starring Nicolas Cage and Nicolas Cage starring as Joe Exotic is definitely going to give me plenty to write about.
And yes I can’t avoid the pun since Cage is playing a guy who apparently raises tigers or something or other, it’s definitely going to be a Cagey role for him.
Cage is set to appear in the eight-episode series for Imagine Television and CBS Television Studios. Cage is also set to be an executive producer of the project, so I expect the series to be as quirky as, well, as Cage. Although again I’m never going to watch it.
And Cage is going to be a busy man. Along with being in the Nicolas Cage movie about Nicolas Cage starring Nicolas Cage and portraying Joe Exotic, National Treasure 3 is still in the works. Fans have been clamoring for a National Treasure 3 and the effort to eventually get this movie made is ongoing. And Cage is set to reprise his role in National Treasure 3.
The description of what the Joe Exotic series will be about is absolutely awesome as well. The series will look at how this guy became Joe Exotic “and how he lost himself to a character of his own creation.” Does that sound like the perfect role for Nicolas Cage or what?
I’ve also heard the Nicolas Cage movie starring Nicolas Cage about Nicolas Cage also has a similar them as its sort of going to feature Nicolas Cage playing Nicolas Cage who has lost himself in the Nicolas Cage character he has created.
