She teaches private classes at different locations. In addition, Mitchell consistently crafts creative commission pieces. Her art work includes acrylic art pours and geodes. She employs acrylic paint and synthetic resin to produce its own unique characteristics. Mitchell also enjoys creating beautiful geodes with a variety of materials such as wood, deco stones, glitter, real crystals, glass, minerals, shells, and resin.
She enjoys embellishing her acrylic art pieces by shaping them with gold and glitter to add a shimmering appearance to her work. Mitchell employs colors such as teal, white, gold, red, amethyst, black, rose, and a variety of other colors to enhance her impressive sparkling resin geodes.
Her most recent DIY art demonstration took place at the Porterville Art Association during a succession of free live art demonstrations provided by members of the art gallery.
“I am a local artist from Porterville specializing in fluid artwork, but also an interpretation artist of geodes, ocean scenes, etc.,” Mitchell said. “I enjoy doing detailed watercolors and abstract pieces. I love making coasters, trays, ornaments, and wall pieces of many kinds.
“I’ve been working on developing my art into my career for a couple of years now. I’ve always had a strong desire to create, and be artistic… and took as many art classes as I could. Severe health issues and a couple of major surgeries changed my course of direction. I reflected on my new situation and decided that art was calling out to me, not only as a great form of therapy, but also as a passion from deep within.”
Mitchell has expanded into making things with resin intense, molds, inks, art work, coasters, crystals and wind chimes.
