To Michelle Wilson, Portervill­e Patriots, and all those who organized the Portervill­e Veterans Day Cruise to honor Veterans and to all those who participat­ed.

To Springvill­e’s Josh Misko and Tim Wilson of Northern California who make up the Nashvilleb­ased duo Timothy James for its release of their single “Kiss ‘Em Both For Me Tonight” in honor of PFC Doug Jeffries of Springvill­e, who paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country. All proceeds from the single from November through January will go to Soldiers’ Angles, an organizati­on that provides various resources to Veterans.

To the four new officers who have joined the Portervill­e Police Department: Anthony Luckey, Jasmine Scott, Maria Hernandez and Matthew Allred.

To Veteran Steve Schultz who led the effort and all those who participat­ed in the effort to place crosses and American flags at the gravesites of the 42 veterans at Zion Cemetery and to line the cemetery’s borders with American flags.

To Portervill­e High graduate Samantha Rainey who has signed a letter of intent to play water polo at Biola University.

To all those mentors who participat­ed and to Portervill­e Unified School District staff who put The Poppies recognizes those for their community service and the accomplish­ments of those in the area and appears in The Recorder every Friday.
