Grace Project hosts Prayer in the Park
Prayer in the Park was hosted by the Grace Project at Veterans Park on a gorgeous sunny day last Saturday, at 2 p.m.
Like minded Christians from various local community churches as well as the public were invited in fellowship to meet at the park, listen to an opening prayer and welcome by Joe Trujillo, testimonies about their Christian faith from various people involved in the Grace Project, as well as pastors from local churches.
Trujillo spoke about his months long battle with COVID-19, and about being in the hospital with COVID, pneumonia, and how the power of prayer helped him avoid being put on a ventilator. He said various people came and prayed with him, and he realized if prayer could help him, that was his calling in life, to help as many people possible. He spoke at length about prayer and said “The harvest is
plentiful,” referring to prayer meetings he'd attended besides reading from the Bible.
Another Grace Project member, Brenda, said, “We are all in the body of Christ,” and said she was
thankful for what God was doing in our community, her life, and her heart.” She spoke about
some of her past difficulties in life, and said that welcoming God into her heart, allowed her to realize how he uses people to help each other.
Lee Qualls spoke in Veterans Park to the audience of about 40 or more people, saying “How beautiful is this,” and how they're called to spread the gospel to the world, not just Porterville.
After the speeches, and testimonials everyone was invited to take a “prayer walk” around the park, “praying for revival and a change in the world situation,” and then they would meet up for hot chocolate and donuts.
“We'd like to bring back hope, and walk around the park in prayer,” said Trujillo, who credits his faith for keeping him alive. “The only way I know to restart is “Jesus,” and I think the world needs a rebirth and a refresh. People are scared, and we need to show love and hope, through fellowship and being together.
“I pray to God that he will guide us, and I pray we have a refresh, a recharge of his spirit.”
