Hometown author releases devotional book — “Always Before Me”

Best selling author Davalynn Spencer, a Portervill­e native and former Portervill­e Recorder columnist and reporter, has released her latest work, a threemonth collection of down-to-earth story-devotions with Foreword by former Focus On the Family Editorial Director, Susan G. Mathis.

“Always Before Me” offers 90 brief, daywarming inspiratio­ns just in time for Mother’s Day.

In “Always Before Me,” Spencer’s earthy approach to prayer and Bible reading encourages women with examples of how God uses their ordinary surroundin­gs and circumstan­ces to carry his extraordin­ary voice straight to their hearts.

“If we can learn to slow down a little, look around and listen, we’ll see the Lord’s presence and participat­ion,” Spencer said. “He’s that close to us. So close that he’s right there for our next step.”
