Irene Bakich

Irene Bakich passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on April 28, 2022 at the age of 92 years old. Irene was born in Missouri to parents Harvey and Loveeta Dunlap on Dec. 20, 1929.

Her family moved and settled in Porterville when Irene was a small child. She eventually met and married the "love of her life" Matthew Bakich. They worked side by side in The Bee and Christmas tree business until Matthew's death in 1999. Irene was well known for her beautiful wedding cakes, quilts, sewing, embroidery, crocheting and knitting. She was an amazing woman with many talents.

Irene leaves behind her two sons Matthew Bakich Jr of Porterville and John "Ivo" Bakich of Bakersfield. She also leaves behind one sister Helen Zalud as well as grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She will be missed by all who loved her. There will be no services.
