To Westfield Elementary School sixth grade GATE teacher Renee Carson for being named the Elementary Teacher of the Year and Burton Middle School seventh and eighth grade match teacher Monica Robles for being named the Middle School Teacher of the Year by the Central California Chinese Cultural Center in partnership with the Tulare County Office of Education.
To Terra Bella School ACCEL teacher Heather Albanez for being awarded the Brent Rast Award in which TCOE’S Special Services recognizes a teacher of students with special needs.
To River Ridge Ranch and Institute for again becoming “Cal State River Ridge,” continuing a program in which students from all across the country do research in a program funding by the National Science Foundation and offered through the Geography department at Long Beach State.
To the Nu Breed Jazmin 12 and under volleyball club for winning the Silver Division at the Southern California Volleyball Association Socal Championships.
To the historic accomplishment of Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux for being named as the president of the state’s Sheriff’s Association and Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward for being named the president of the state’s District Attorney’s Association.
To Porterville artist Cesar Martinez for being selected to have his works displayed in his exhibit “The Invisible Generation” at Arts Visalia from June 1 to July 1.
To the Burton Track Club who had 21 Valley Champions, 36 Valley medalists and 52 Valley qualifiers who competed at the recent Youth Valley Championships at Buchanan.
To Monache’s Jake Estrada, Devin Marino, Alberto Andrade and Monte Moore for setting the school record and placing fifth in the boys 4x800 relay and to Moore for setting a school record and placing fifth in the 800 at the Valley Masters Championships. Also to Monache’s Raymundo Rodriguez, Porterville High’s Ryleigh Schoonover and Strathmore High’s Jacob Poole for qualifying for Valley Masters.
