Joseph Lynn Hunsaker

Joseph Lynn Hunsaker, 83, of Santa Maria, CA, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2023. Lynn (as he was known) was born on May 10, 1940, in Porterville, CA; to mother, Muriel Guinn Hunsaker; and father, Morris Dutch Hunsaker. Lynn spent his early years living in Garden Grove and Long Beach in southern California, joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1958 after attending Jordan High School. He was stationed in Bridgeport, CA, and received an honorable discharge in 1964.

Lynn leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Sybil; daughter, Teresa Smith; stepson, Mark Souder; stepdaughter, Shelly Bachrach; and four grandchildren: Damian and Wolfgang Smith, and Ashley and Alyssa Bachrach. In addition, his sister, Eileen Lightner; and brothers, Allen and Frank Hunsaker. Also, many nieces and nephews. Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Muriel Hunsaker, and his sister, Sharon Crowell.

Lynn was a dedicated employee from working in a cabinet shop, tuxedo rentals store, and co-owning a beauty supply store in Santa Maria (Raintree Beauty Supplies) to finally the wine grape farming business (Hampton Farming Company) for 23 years. Lynn loved to fish, hunt, backpack in the mountains with horses, and was a wonderful dancing partner (with Sybil).

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, at the Vandalia Cemetery in Porterville, CA.
