Gales of November due to arrive on schedule
(Precipitation at 7 a.m. CDT)
Climatology suggests weather across the Midwest and Great Lakes becomes increasingly turbulent in November. Current forecasts support this contention. As many as three major storm systems are expected to affect our area in the coming week.
The first of these will be moving through the Upper Mississippi Valley on Sunday, turning the latter half of our weekend wet and windy. By Monday, a core of jet stream winds in excess of 150 mph is forecast to dive across the central Rockies, aiding development of another circulation. Rain and thunderstorms are to develop in mild air Monday night, followed by spotty showers and falling temperatures. Winds will likely gust to 50 mph or higher Tuesday. After a lull Wednesday into early Thursday, a third system could bring light snow Thursday night.
