Shine a Light on Lung Cancer & World COPD Day

Join St. Mary Medical Center for a presentation on the detection, treatment and management of lung cancer as well as an informative lecture on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). An observance will be held in honor of those who have lost their lives to lung cancer. The event includes a health fair, information booths related to cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, the proper use of respiratory medication, smoking cessation, lung cancer screening and other topics.

Each brilliant light on the Lights of Life trees at Community Hospital shine in honor or memory of the special people who light up our lives. For every light, a $5 donation has been made to support cancer research at the hospital. For a $15 donation, a pink breast cancer pin or a lavender cancer awareness pin can also be sent. The Community Stroke & Rehabilitation
Center in Crown Point features a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit that includes therapy gyms and living skills space. The four-story, 129,000 square-foot facility offers diagnostic imaging, lab services, immediate care, Women’s Diagnostic Center, physician practices and outpatient therapy areas. Immediate Care hours are Monday – Friday 8 am to 8 pm; Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Learn more at COMHS.org.

The Angel Tree program allows participants to honor or memorialize a loved one during the holiday season. For a $10 donation, an angel is hung on the Angel Tree at the hospital’s west entrance lobby. Personalized angel cards are sent to honorees or families to commemorate the event. For a $20 donation, the donor also receives an additional beautiful angel ornament. Wings of Healing

The Wings of Healing program allows participants to honor or memorialize a loved one during the holiday season. For a $10 donation, an angel is hung on the Wings of Healing Tree at the hospital.
