- Associated Press

Jamal Adams’ wish was finally granted: He’s leaving New York in a stunning trade.

The Jets dealt the disgruntled star safety to the Seahawks on Saturday, splitting with a gifted player whose relationship with the franchise quickly deteriorated because of a contract dispute.

The Jets received a massive haul in the deal, sending a 2022 fourth-round draft pick along with Adams to the Seahawks for a 2021 first-rounder, a 2022 first-rounder, a 2021 third-rounder and safety Bradley McDougald — all pending physicals.

The deal ended a contentious several months for Adams and the Jets, a situation that increasingly appeared headed for a divorce when the two-time Pro Bowl selection criticized ownership early in the week and then took shots at coach Adam Gase and general manager Joe Douglas in an interview with the Daily News published Friday.

The Vikings are expecting RB Dalvin Cook to report on time for training camp, coach Mike Zimmer said. Cook has begun the final year of his rookie contract. The 2019 Pro Bowl pick took a break from the virtual offseason program last month, seeking a new deal. Cook, a second-round draft pick in 2017, had 1,135 rushing yards and 519 receiving yards in 14 games last year.

Golf: Renato Paratore won the British Masters for his second career victory on the European Tour after closing with a 2-under 69 containing his first bogeys of the week. The Italian golfer’s first dropped shot of the tournament came on his 63rd hole — at No. 9 in his final round — to end his bid to become the first player to win a European Tour event without a bogey since Jesper Parnevik in the 1995 Scandinavian Masters. Paratore finished on 18 under overall, three strokes ahead of Rasmus Hojgaard (70), as the European Tour made its full return following a four-month suspension.

NBA: Rookie star Zion Williamson will be out of quarantine by the time the Pelicans plays in the first official game of the NBA restart at Walt Disney World. Whether the Pelicans will play him that night or not remains anyone’s guess. The NBA said Williamson has to serve a four-day quarantine for leaving the league’s Disney bubble on July 16 to tend to an urgent family matter. He returned to Disney on Friday night and immediately went into quarantine.

NHL: Blackhawks G Corey Crawford practiced after he missed the start of training camp following a positive COVID-19 test. Crawford, 35, said he was in quarantine at his place in Chicago. The return of Crawford is a big development as the Hawks prepare for their qualifying series against the Oilers and their high-scoring duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

Soccer: Former Spain and Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez, 40, now the coach of Qatari club Al-Sadd, tested positive for the coronavirus.

WNBA: Breanna Stewart had 18 points, eight rebounds and four steals in her first WNBA game since helping Seattle win the 2018 championship, sending the Storm past the New York Liberty 87-71 in the season opener for both teams. The 2020 WNBA season, delayed and shortened by the coronavirus pandemic, will be played in a bubble at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. Stewart missed all of last season after tearing her Achilles tendon while playing for her Russian club team in April 2019.
