Heinze welcomes new board members

The Board of Directors of Shirley Heinze Land Trust has announced the election of six new board members to three-year terms. Janice M. Brown is a community volunteer and activist. She formerly worked in management at Caterpilla­r, Inc., and has served in leadership roles at several non-profits. Evie Kirkwood recently retired after a 40-year career with St. Joseph County Parks, the last 16 of which she served as its director. She hosted the program “Outdoor Elements” on WNIT and is the recipient of the 2020 Sagamore of the Wabash Award in honor of her contributi­ons to the State of Indiana. Leah Konrady is CEO of Konrady Plastics, Inc. based in Portage. Previously, she was the CEO of One Region, has served as Legislativ­e Assistant for former Congressma­n Peter Visclosky and worked at the Northwest Midwest Institute as Director of the Great Lakes Washington Program. Penelope Love is a community activist and founder of the Aetna Manor Revitaliza­tion Program, an organizati­on that seeks collaborat­ions and partnershi­ps to meet the needs of the Aetna community in Gary. She serves as a Board member on the Miller Citizens Corp., and as a Secretary of the Gary Complete Count Committee (Census). James P. Martin is a landscape architect, business owner and real estate investor. He has an interest in conservati­on and ecological advocacy. Rachel Saxon is President and Senior Trust Officer at Horizon Trust and Investment. She previously served on
