Halftime lead disappears for Valpo quickly

- STAFF REPORT

Against Horizon League power Green Bay, on the road, on Monday night, Valparaiso actually had a twopoint lead at halftime.

It was all downhill from there as the Phoenix outscored the Crusaders 46-16 in the second half on their way to a 70-42 victory.

The halftime talk by Green Bay (13-7, 6-2) head coach Kevin Borseth must have worked since the Phoenix came out of the locker room with a 14-0 run that extended to 24-4 over the first 12 minutes.

None of the Valparaiso (3-18, 1-7) starters scored in double figures as Lexi Miller led the way off the bench with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field. Jessi Wiedemann added nine points.

Breannah Ranger’s 16 points and seven rebounds led Green Bay, while Tesha Buck added 15 points and seven boards of her own.
