Portage Township to name school superintendent Monday
The Portage Township School Board will announce its selection of a new school superintendent at a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Portage High School East Commons.
A reception that will allow the public to meet and greet the new superintendent will follow.
The board also is expected to approve a new contract for the superintendent. The newly appointed superintendent will re- ceive $129,396.91 annually, the same amount departing superintendent Ric Frataccia received during his last year at the helm.
In addition, the school will pay $11,700 to purchase an annuity and will provide a car, insurance and retirement contribution.
The board spent several months searching for a new superintendent.
The search process was delayed in part due to the resignation of long-term board member William Fekete and selection of his replacement, Andy Maletta.
Twelve applications for the position were received. Three finalists were selected and interviewed by the five-member board. Applications were received from Indiana, Illinois and Michigan.
The new superintendent officially will take over Tuesday.
