Tomaszewski, Benedict F.
Age 81, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014. He was born to Clemence and Christine (Kozlowski) Tomaszewski in Chicago, IL on March 24, 1933.
Benedict is survived by his loving daughters, Carla (Rob) Olson of Schererville, IN and Nancy (Mark) Wellons of Kouts, IN. He was a loving grandfather to Lindsay (Christopher) Murray and Adam Stilley. Also survived by his sisters, Rita Cybulski and Geraldine Pawlowski; brother, Ernest (Nina) Tomaszewski; sister-in-law, Dorothy Thomas; as well as many nieces and nephews. Benedict was preceded in death by his loving wife, Anna of 56 years; parents, Clemence and Christine Tomaszewski; and brother, Tom Thomas.
Ben graduated from Chicago Vocational, served in the US Army during the Korean War for 2 years active duty and remained in the reserves until 1962. Ben retired from Western Electric with over 30 years service.
Ben resided in Calumet City, IL for 28 years along with his wife, Ann, raising their daughters. They spent 22 years breeding championship Japanese Akita dogs and Burmese cats. Ben and Ann followed their dream to live in the country and moved to Hebron, IN where they lived for 23 years enjoying nature in their 10 acre backyard. Ben’s talents were too numerous to name and he had a great willingness to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project or The Salvation Army. The family will have a private funeral at a later date.
