Age 81, passed away Sun­day, Au­gust 24, 2014. He was born to Cle­mence and Chris­tine (Ko­zlowski) To­maszewski in Chicago, IL on March 24, 1933.

Bene­dict is sur­vived by his lov­ing daugh­ters, Carla (Rob) Ol­son of Scher­erville, IN and Nancy (Mark) Wel­lons of Kouts, IN. He was a lov­ing grand­fa­ther to Lind­say (Christo­pher) Mur­ray and Adam Stil­ley. Also sur­vived by his sisters, Rita Cy­bul­ski and Geral­dine Pawlowski; brother, Ernest (Nina) To­maszewski; sis­ter-in-law, Dorothy Thomas; as well as many nieces and neph­ews. Bene­dict was pre­ceded in death by his lov­ing wife, Anna of 56 years; par­ents, Cle­mence and Chris­tine To­maszewski; and brother, Tom Thomas.

Ben grad­u­ated from Chicago Vo­ca­tional, served in the US Army dur­ing the Korean War for 2 years ac­tive duty and re­mained in the re­serves un­til 1962. Ben re­tired from Western Elec­tric with over 30 years ser­vice.

Ben resided in Calumet City, IL for 28 years along with his wife, Ann, rais­ing their daugh­ters. They spent 22 years breed­ing cham­pi­onship Ja­panese Akita dogs and Burmese cats. Ben and Ann fol­lowed their dream to live in the coun­try and moved to He­bron, IN where they lived for 23 years en­joy­ing na­ture in their 10 acre back­yard. Ben’s tal­ents were too nu­mer­ous to name and he had a great will­ing­ness to help any­one in need. He will be greatly missed.

Memo­ri­als may be given in his name to the Wounded War­rior Project or The Sal­va­tion Army. The fam­ily will have a pri­vate fu­neral at a later date.
