Plastic Film Recycling Challenge begins
The 16th annual Trex Plastic Film Recycling Challenge begins this week and lasts until April 22 for K-12 students across the country. The annual competition challenges students to collect and recycle as much polyethylene plastic film as possible over a fivemonth period. Schools are able to enroll in the challenge, and once enrolled they will receive a turnkey kit with instructions, promotional materials, recycling bins and a list of qualifying materials. Amounts are weighed and collection totals are sent into Trex each
month before being dropped off at designated locations in communities. In Porter County, Meijer and Kohl’s are designated drop off locations. For more information, visit the Recycling & Waste Reduction District of Porter County website.
