Annie Pearl McKinney Johnson entered this life as the fourth child to Eugene and Annie Dora McKinney on June 2, 1936. She departed this life on February 12, 2023, in Jonesburg, Georgia after a brief illness. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age. Annie was a very active member of First Baptist Church for over fifty years having served the Food Pantry Ministry, Bessie Griggs Mission Ministry, Deaconess Ministry, Sunday School, and General Mission Ministry. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School Class of 1956 and a graduate of Calumet College with a degree in Education. Annie was employed by the Gary Community School Corporatio­n for many years, having taught at Jefferson Elementary School. She Met the love of her life Eugene Johnson, and they were married for 49 years. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers James and Eddie McKinney and her special nephew Vireace Harris. She leaves to cherish her memories, four sisters Ruth Harris, Annette and Yvonne McKinney of Gary, Indiana and Elaine McKinney of Stockbridg­e, Georgia, nieces Deirdre Stockes of Battle Creek, MI, Jackey McKinney and Jaquia Heath of Stockbridg­e, GA; Nephews Jonathan Stockes of Dallas, TX, Anthony Harris Sr. of Knoxville, TN, Anthony Foster Harris Jr., of Clinton, TN; sister-in -law Bobbye McKinney of Battle Creek, MI; brother -in-law Rev. Dr. Hickman Johnson of Jackson, MS and a host of cousins and wonderful friends. Visitation, Thursday February 23, 2023, from 12:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel 2959 West 11th Avenue. Funeral Service Friday, February 24, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church 626 West 21st Avenue. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.
