Howard Levy at The Venue

Howard Levy is a multiGramm­y Award-winning harmonica player, pianist and composer who is perhaps best known as a member of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones.

Together with Chicago musicians Chris Siebold, Josh Ramo and Luiz Ewerling, this group presents a program of original compositio­ns covering a wide range of musical styles.

Disney skate

From “Let It Go” to “We’re All in This Together,” glide around the ice to all the great Disney hits in the last public ice skating event of the season.

Celebratin­g outside

Alpine Fest is from 5 to 10 p.m. Jan. 26 and 4 to 11 p.m. Jan. 27 at Buffalo Creek Brewing in Long Grove. Tickets are free. At 360 Historical Lane. 847-8216140; buffalocre­ekbrewing. com.

The Alpine Biergarten will be open with heat lamps and fire pits. Guests can enjoy freshly brewed beer, winter games, live music, the Fork ‘N Fry food truck, raffles, contests and hot chocolate for the kids.

Chili, soup and walks

Soup-er Hike to Whalen Lake is from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Bolingbroo­k. Admission is free. At 419 Trout Farm Road. 815-7224121; reconnectw­ithnature. org.

A naturalist will lead guests on a three-mile hike to Whalon Lake followed by a campfire and a mug of hot soup or chili. Bring your favorite mug and a can of soup (non-cream only) or chili to add to a pot simmering over the fire. For ages 10 and older.

Short attention span theater

“The Neo-Futurists X North Central Collab,” a coproducti­on with The Neo-Futurists Theater is at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 1-3 and 2 p.m. Feb. 3-4 at the Madden Theatre at North Central College in Naperville. Tickets are $10-$14. At 171 E. Chicago Ave. 630-637-7469; northcentr­ show/artists/neo-futurists.

An adaptation of The Neo-Futurists’ ongoing attempt to perform 30 plays in 60 minutes, this show features original material written and performed by the North Central student ensemble and directed by Neo-Futurists Neil Bhandari and Abby Pajakowski.
