Our rich redemption, Part III
Eph. 1:7 (KJV) says, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.”
Over the last two weeks, we found out that our eternal redemption lies solely in the Lord Christ. Today, let us observe that the redemption we have in Jesus is through His precious blood.
Remember, to redeem means to buy back from someone who has taken your possession captive. The divine blood of God the Son is what was shed on Calvary to purchase our souls back from Satan’s captivity.
We are reminded in I Pet. 1:18-21 (KJV), “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in
God.”
The rich fountain of royal blood, flowing from Immanuel’s veins down the old rugged cross, was gathered up three days later by the resurrected Savior.
“But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel” (Heb. 12:2224, KJV).
It was afterward sprinkled on the mercy seat of heaven to speak for our redemption, if we will only believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.
