Construction projects, civil cases on County Commissioners’ agenda
The LeFlore County Commissioners will have a busy agenda for their weekly meeting at 9 a.m. Monday at the LeFlore County Court House.
The board will look to approve six District 1 construction projects — on First Street, Central Street, Hudson Street, 250th Avenue, Carter Lake Road and Tackett Road — and seven District 2 construction projects — Choctaw Lane, Wildhorse Road, Brazil Creek Loop, a two-road project for Calhoun and Wells roads, a three-road project for Cedar Lane, Ridge Road and Kerr Mansion Road, a three-road project for Gilmore Road, Elm Street and Cowskin Road as well as for Kennedy Road.
There is an executive session planned for the County Commissioners to discuss two civil case — Chad Osterhout vs. Jason Timms, Kendall Morgan and LeFlore County Sheriff and Christopher Peterson vs. Board of LeFlore County Commissioners.
In other matters, the board is expected to approve a contract between Cleveland County with Pottawatomie County and LeFlore County regarding juvenile detention services, approve a resolution allowing LeFlore County Treasurer April Caughern to reinvest surplus public health funds for August, approve a bid to sell property in Howe, approve a bid to purchase a fire truck benefiting the Talihina Fire Department, approve resolutions regarding reimbursements to the LeFlore County Election for poll workers, stamps, copies, Social Security and overtime during the fiscal 2021-22 year, approve a lease purchase between The Community State Bank, Fort Smith (Ark.) Garage Doors and the County Commissioners dealing with the two overhead garage doors benefiting the Summerfield Fire Department for a cost os $14,999, approve an engagement letter as submitted by Wells, Wann and Company for the 2020-21 fiscal year audit, approve a blanket resolution and statement of understanding for 2022 Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) applications and approve a permit application as submitted by Windstream Oklahoma, LLC to cross parallel a portion of Old Highway 112 near Cameron.
Oklahoma Windstream, LLC’s permit application actually was on last Monday morning’s meeting agenda, but LeFlore County Emergency Management Director Dennis Yochum told the board that the wrong site for the project was initially listed. LeFlore County Commissioners Board Secretary and LeFlore County Clerk Kelli Ford said that the permit application would need to be resubmitted with the correct site of the project.
The Commissioners also are expected to approve purchase orders, payroll, bonds, monthly fee reports, transfer of appropriations, blanket purchase orders, contract labor/service agreements and the two ongoing bridge construction projects — one a mile east of Shady Point over the Poteau River and the other on Brazil Creek Road south of Oklahoma State Highway 31 and west of Shady Point.
If there is new and/or old business and/or any pay estimates for the final phase of the Conser Road Project, the board likely will approve any and all action necessary.
