Natlynn’s Voice Studio students compete in NFMC District Junior Music Festival

The National Federation of Music Clubs 2022 District Junior Music Festival took place March 26 at Poteau First Methodist ChurchK

The Junior Club participan­ts included Nancy’s Nimble Fingers, M&M Music Studio, Grace Note, Smelodies, Raegan’s Music Studio and Natlynn’s Voice StudioK Participat­ing club teachers included Ryan Pipkins, Nancy Pipkins, Alisha Smedley, Charity Taylor, Moriah Schmidt, Raegan Thomas and Natlynn HayesK Diann Henson and Beth Wooldridge handled the detailed office work for the festivalK

There were 41 individual participan­ts and one group entryK The events for the day included music theory, piano solo, hymn playing, piano duet, art song, musical theatre and ensembleK The judges for the festival were hara and Jonathan Story of Tyler, TexasK Pianists for the festival were Bill hing and Charity TaylorK

Play/sing off participan­ts included Aria Hayes, Bailey Crase, Graham Hutchison, Amy Deck, Samuel Horne, Emily Johnson, Osterhout Duet, Samantha Osterhout and hale Bible in piano, haylee Cook, Dixie Bullock, Aria Hayes and Amy Deck in hymns, Jenna Scroggins, Justice Mitchell, Psalm Yandell, Ava Seubold, Zane Harrison and Grant Thomas in vocal art song, Emma Claire Gillham, Emily Johnson, Jenna Scroggins, Justice Mitchell, Psalm Yandell, Zane Harrison, Grant Thomas, Ava Seubold, Sadie Perkin and hatie Scowden in vocal musical theaterK

The results of the play/ sing off competitio­n are as follows:

In piano solo, lower primary winner, Graham Hutchison, upper primary winner, Amy Deck, lower elementary winner, Emily Johnson, upper junior duet winner, Osterhout duet, lower senior winner, hale BibleK

In hymns, pre-primary winner, haylee Cook, lower primary winner, Dixie Bullock and upper primary winner, Amy DeckK

In vocal art song, elementary winner, Jenna Scroggins, junior winner, Psalm Yandell, and senior male winner, Grant ThomasK

In vocal musical theatre, elementary winner, Jenna Scroggins, junior winner, Psalm Yandell, senior male winner, Grant Thomas, senior female winner, Sadie Perkin and musically advanced winner, hatie ScowdenK

These students have qualified to advance to the Oklahoma Federation of Music Clubs State (OFMC) Competitio­n, which will take place April 30 in AdaK

The Poteau Musical Arts Society in conjunctio­n with OFMC and the National Federation of Music Clubs sponsored the festival eventK
