Delt, Nye sign LOIs

- By Tom Firme Sports Editor

Howe’s Kalan Nye and Raelyn Delt did not choose the same school or sport for college, but, as best friends, were set on signing during the same ceremony, which they did on Wednesday. Nye signed with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M for softball, and Delt signed with Eastern Oklahoma State College for basketball.

“It’s really cool. We’re best friends. We do everything together. Neither one of us wanted all of the attention on ourselves. We wanted to share that,” Delt said.

Delt averaged 10.6 points per game and had 112 deflections (matching her sophomore year total for third in program history) this season.

“I’m really long, so I get a lot of steals and deflections, so guarding onball is usually what I’m best at, but it’s going to be harder in college because I’ll need to be quicker and faster,” she said.

EOSC’s women’s basketball team went 25-6 this season.

Nye threw 111 strikeouts during the fast-pitch season.

“I do have a different style,” she said. “I try to throw every pitch like it looks the same — my changeup, my drop curve, my drop ball — they all look the same.”

Nye said she likes how everyone in NEO softball works hard and supports each other.

“I feel like I’m excited to see how much I can grow when I’m focused on one sport and I’m working out and surrounded by a team that’s there for one reason. I’m excited to be at NEO because of the culture around softball,” she said.

NEO is 22-14 this season.
