Pocola powers past opponents to reach LCT Slow-Pitch final

Pocola scored 38 runs in its first three LeFlore County Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament games, including a 13-run inning in its semifinal, to get within a win of its first LCT SlowPitch title since 2008.

Here’s a rundown of the first two days.

Tuesday at Wister Winners bracket Whitesboro 13, Heavener 12

Addi Wright hit a gamewinnin­g RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning of a game that was suspended from Monday due to lightning.

A seven-run second inning gave Whitesboro an 8-4 lead. The girls in red, white and blue led 9-4 with two outs in the top of the fifth when lightning forced the game to be suspended until Tuesday. Heavener picked up with momentum when play resumed, scoring three runs with two outs that inning.

After Whitesboro notched a run in the bottom of the fifth, Heavener tied it 10-all in the top of the sixth. Whitesboro tallied two in the bottom of the sixth before Heavener matched that in the top of the seventh. After Heavener walked Kinley Barron and Austyn Wright to load the bases, Addi Wright hit the walk-off run-scoring single.

Whitesboro’s Kayleigh Walker was 3-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs. Maura Cole was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. For Heavener, Ava Cartwright was 3-for3 with two walks and an RBI. Marianna Garcia was 3-for-5.

Wister 13, LeFlore 10

Wister had a seven-run first inning and hung on after LeFlore rallied within 10-9 with a six-run top of the sixth inning.

Kaylea Underwood, Kinley Branscum and Jordan Makoby each went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Reagan Roath was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. For LeFlore, Alyssa Waits went 2-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs. Makinsie Pebley had a hit, two walks and an RBI.

Pocola 19, Whitesboro 11

After trailing 11-5, Pocola took the lead with a 13-run bottom of the fifth inning for an 18-11 lead. Kylee Smith drove in Allyssa Parker with a single in the sixth to end it.

Kail Chitwood hit a three-run home run in the fifth while going 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Smith was 3-for-5 with four RBIs. Madison Linker was 3-for-4 with a walk and four RBIs. Parker, Mika Scott and Presleigh Riggs each had two hits, a walk and an RBI.

Whitesboro’s Linley Collins and Madison Grogan both had two hits and an RBI. Barron was 2-for4 with two RBIs.

Wister 3, Howe 1

Wister scored two in the top of the first inning, including a run-scoring single by Makovy. Howe’s Karsyn Nye scored Maddy Nobles with a single in the bottom half of the inning.

Wister added a run with Branscum scoring on an error in the fourth.

Makovy and Kourtney Donaho were both 2-for-3. For Howe, Ashlyn Dalton was 2-for-3.

Winners bracket final Pocola 9, Wister 1

Pocola notched three runs in the bottom of the first inning with Chitwood hitting a two-run home run. Wister posted its run in the top of the second on a double by Hattie Pate. Pocola added two runs each in the bottom of the second, fourth and fifth.

For Pocola, Linker was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Chitwood and Parker each had two hits and two RBIs. Bailey Lairamore and Kylee Merritt also had two hits. For Wister, Pate and Underwood were both 2-for-2.

Consolatio­n bracket LeFlore 8, Talihina 1

Kaylen Hudlow was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Waits was 2-for3 with a two-run home run and a walk. Piper Warren was 2-for-2 with a triple, a walk and two RBIs.

Talihina’s Jessea Stowell went 2-for-3.

Tuesday at Howe Consolatio­n bracket Heavener 11, Cameron 3

With Arkoma having to drop out due to player illnesses, Cameron moved on to play Heavener.

Heavener had five runs each in the first and fourth innings.

Kinley Brand had a hit and two RBIs. Cartwright and Brand both had two hits and an RBI.

LeFlore 16, Panama 15 (10 innings)

LeFlore’s Alyssa Waits hit the game-winning RBI double in the bottom of the 10th, scoring Pebley.

Panama took a 7-2 lead with a four-run top of the third inning, but LeFlore scored two in the bottom half of the inning. Panama added a run each in the fifth and sixth innings before LeFlore took a 10-9 lead with six runs in the bottom of the sixth. Panama notched three runs in the top of the seventh before LeFlore sent it to extra innings with two in the bottom half of the inning.

Waits was 5-for-6 with four RBIs. Jenna Woodall and Lori Cogburn both had three hits and two RBIs. Harley Robinson had four hits and two RBIs.

For Panama, Kelcee Ward was 4-for-4 with two home runs, a walk and six RBIs. Cheyanne Land hit a home run. Ashley Montgomery was 4-for-5 with an RBI.

Monday at Howe Panama 13, Arkoma 0

Panama’s Aleah McKinney was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Montgomery tripled and had three RBIs. Ward was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Layla Sons was 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

Abby Kolb had Arkoma’s only hit.

Howe 6, Panama 3

Howe had a six-run second inning for a 6-2 lead and held off Panama, turning a double play in the fourth inning and stranding a runner on third base in the sixth after McKinney scored on a groundout to make it 6-3.

Panama’s Sons went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run. Krista Dotson was 2-for-4.

For Howe, Jazzlyn Harrison and Abby Huie both had two hits and an RBI. Maddy Nobles walked twice, singled and drove in a run.

Monday at Wister Cameron 6, Talihina 5

Talihina led 2-1 in the top of the third inning before Cameron tied it in the bottom half of the inning. Talihina had a three-run top of the fifth inning, but Cameron scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, two in the sixth and a run on a walk-off double by Lainey Dyer in the seventh.

London Dyer went 3-for-3, scoring the winning run. Maci Grammer was 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. For Talihina, Sierra Sar was 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs.

Pocola 10, Cameron 0

Pocola’s Maci Maxwell and Lety Parga both went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Parker was also 2-for-3. Linker was 3-for-3. McCormack, Lainey Dyer and Kassadee Francis had Cameron’s hits.
