Biden’s decisions regarding oil, gas issues hurting U.S.

As gas prices continue to hit all-time record highs, the Biden administration shows that it isn’t concerned about climate change so much as it just wants to appease the environmental left by hurting American drilling and mining industries. Through executive action after executive action, President Joe Biden has taken NIMBYism — as in “not in my backyard” — to a global level.

When he continued to import Russian oil and looks to Iran and Venezuela for more, Biden showed that he understands that we cannot run the machine called America without fossil fuels. Yet, he continues to hamstring domestic production while importing oil and gas from countries run by dictators who wage war on their neighbors, fund terrorism and suppress the rights of their own people.

Biden and the radical environmentalists have no problem with those countries drilling and mining for resources so long as we aren’t. Look no further than the Paris Climate Agreement which hamstrings our economy, but does nothing to curb China’s ever growing appetite for fossil fuels. In fact, since signing the Paris Agreement, China continues to build coal power plants and produce record amounts of coal. Furthermore, by considering to lift sanctions on Iran and Venezuela for more oil and gas speaks volumes as to what Biden’s priorities actually are.

Under former President Donald Trump, America was energy independent, a net energy exporter and gas was affordable. Now, barely more than a year into Biden’s administration, we doubled our imports from Russia and American workers are feeling the pinch at the pump as runaway inflation decimates their budgets in other sectors of the economy.

The Biden administration and its media enablers would like you to believe this is all due to Russia invading Ukraine or greedy oil executives, but Americans aren’t stupid. They know that their energy costs have been rising since before Putin decided to wage war on a sovereign country. They know Biden’s own policies are designed to hike energy prices as he and his cabinet have openly advocated for higher gas prices to push forward green energy as the “solution.” If the war were over tomorrow, gas prices would still be higher than they were a year ago due to the decrease in domestic production thanks to Biden’s executive actions. In fact, his newly released budget shows he’s not concerned by higher gas prices as it calls for raising taxes on the oil and gas industry, which will then be passed on to consumers.

The administration would have you believe that the answer to the current energy crisis is green energy and electric cars. In fact, Biden’s policies are designed to create the very crisis he now decries in order to artificially move the economy and the American people toward his vision of a green utopia.

However, renewables will never be able to fully replace fossil fuels because the sun doesn’t always shine and the wind doesn’t always blow. Furthermore, the battery technology to store energy is nowhere near ready, average Americans can’t afford (and don’t want) electric cars — even with the taxpayer funded subsidies — and the supply chain for both perpetuates our dependence on China and Russia as Biden and the radical environmentalist running his administration won’t allow for domestic mining of the very minerals we’re importing.

Being energy independent is a national security issue. Biden can either choose to appease the radical environmental left by making us dependent on our adversaries for our energy needs or he can choose to unleash American workers and industry, making us and our allies safer. Unfortunately, every energy decision he has made in the past year has only made us less secure and has emboldened those who hate freedom.
